BURGHAUSEN, Germany

Well, as you can see this weekend was spent in Burghausen, Germany. My friend, Johanna grew up there and decided to take Dyani and I on a weekend tour! Even though it was a very very cold weekend, it was such a great trip! There is something amazing about walking into a home all the way across the world and seeing how ordinary people function and live their lives. It is something I have always been captivated with. Yes, there are millions of different languages, cultures, and religions that separate us, and everyone has their own traditions and habits, but we are all human. No matter how different we are, we all live our lives. Seeing Nana's childhood home and trying to imagine what it would have been like living there as a child was fascinating, I mean, she grew up a block away from a thousand year old castle that she could play in after school!
Nana, first took us to the famous Burghausen castle, we had a lot of fun there sneaking down blocked off ancient stairs, stuffing our bodies into holes in the wall, and reenacting Titanic, not to mention, Nana let me drive her stick shift all the way there, so trusting!(I didn't wreck it) We had a chance to walk around the town and enjoy the ambiance, and of course, stop for a coke.
All together, such a great weekend! It's so nice to live in Europe, and go on 20 minute road trips to Germany:)

With love from Austria,
Kirsten
